Counterfeit notes coming out of ATM booth

Recently, A country's leading man was paying a bill at Holi Artisan restaurant in Gulshan, from the ATM booth. The restaurant's cash officer identified the 500 taka notes he had given as fake. He has to read a lot of embarrassing situations.

Hema Khatun, a resident of Feni town, raised Tk 50,000 from a private bank ATM booth last March. The next day, for depositing Tk 20,000 from another bank, a banknote banknote identified as a banknote for Tk 1,000. Hajera Khatun had to read the situation uncomfortable in the situation subsequently, there was no remedy in the branch of the concerned bank, complaining about the withdrawal of fake money from ATM booths. On the contrary, he has heard reproach from concerned bank officials. He does not necessarily want to tear off those fake notes without seeing a solution.

Like many people paying bills at Hazera Khatun and Holy Artisan restaurants, many are getting fake notes while withdrawing money from ATM booths. Not only ATM booths, fake notes are available but they also raise more money from the bank. 'Fake note payers are criminals' - Due to the law's provisions, most of the fake currency notes are being scared of harassment. Some cases are resolved by complaining to the concerned bank. However, in most cases, customers are not receiving any remedies from the bank.

In order to find answers to such questions, the Managing Director of some commercial banks (MD), Bangladesh Bank officials working in the prevention of counterfeit notes, ATM Booth speaks to the top executives and law enforcing agencies, along with the traders' message. None of them said that people with outsourcing agencies could be involved with the supply of fake money in the booth. According to somebody, there is no scope to enter the booths if the bankers are not involved. Again, there is also a mention of having money in money bundles supplied from the Bangladesh Bank.

The essence of all is that, a group organized in the ATM booth involves injecting a fake currency. The bankers, the people of the security agencies and the people involved in the clique was formed. In this case members of fraudulent group can also be in the Bangladesh Bank. But bankers are directly involved with the incident of inserting counterfeit currency notes in the bank's money bills given to the customer from the branches of the bank.

Asked the Association of Bankers' Association (ABB) chairman and managing director (MD) of Dhaka Bank, Syed Mahbubur Rahman, told the trader, "I heard a few incidents of fake money coming out of ATM booth. However, the Dhaka Bank's ATM booth did not get any complaint about the money being withdrawn. This can be because our bank's booths are low.

Advising the customers to be aware of counterfeit notes, he said that after withdrawing money from ATM booth, it has to be verified. If you get a fake note, you should immediately report it to the call center. CC cameras are installed in all the ATM booths of the country. A fake note can be lodged in front of the camera. There is a chance to make a written complaint by witnessing the safety guard in the booth. It is possible to counter the counterfeit banknotes by increasing the awareness of customers and bankers and ensuring strict punishment for offenders.

Recently, another case of counterfeiting of fake notes took place in Gulshan branch of a private bank. A worker who raised 10 lakhs of taka from the branch. He identified a counterfeit banknote in the raised money bundle. Later, if the bank wanted to inform the branch in writing, the bankers would have changed the note.

The law enforcing agencies started raids on counterfeit money making and marketing of the country regularly. The counterfeit notes of huge money were also seized at different times. In the last three years, fake banknotes of about Tk 50 million have been identified. From January to July this year, around 900 fake notes were found. Most of these fake notes are 100, 500 and 1000 taka. The amount involved is about 7 lakh taka. Almost 30 cases have been filed against these counterfeit currency dealers. At present, 6,606 cases related to counterfeit notes are pending in the country. In this, new cases are being filed. As a result, the number of cases of counterfeit banknotes is increasing every day.

Police Superintendent of Police (CID) Molla Nazrul Islam, the Special Investigation Team (CID) of the Crime Investigation Department, said in connection with this, the trader said, "We have not received any allegation of providing fake money to the banking channel, including ATM booths. But there are regular measures against counterfeit banknote makers and marketers. If there is specific allegation of supply of fake money to the banking channel, the investigation will certainly be investigated.

The concerned people say that most banks of the country supply money to ATM booths through security agencies. There are four security agencies in the country, namely, Ornet Security Services, G4, Securex, Manipult, to supply money to ATM Booth. These companies collect money from the Vault of Bangladesh Bank and take them to their processing center. There is a separate balance sheet form and the non-inserable notes in the ATM booth are separated. Then he was taken to the ATM booth.

On the condition of not disclosing the top executive name of a security agency working in the ATM booth, many people are involved till the money is transferred from the Vault to the ATM booth. In this case anyone on the level can take refuge in immorality. We got the work done by getting more than one complaint for getting fake notes in ATM booths. But there is a prerequisite of fake banknotes from Bangladesh Bank's Vault. In this case, security agencies do not have to do anything. Booth money supply is very low. He said that due to mechanical testing, such crimes are being reduced day by day.

Bangladesh Bank has various initiatives to counter the counterfeit banknotes, said General Manager of the Bangladesh Bank's Currency Management Division. Sultan Masud Ahmed. He said, if any customer receives counterfeit banknote in the banking channel including ATM booth, then there are Bangladesh Bank desks to complain about it. However, there is no number of complaints in this case. Fake money can enter the booths through ATM booths through the money supply companies. We are ready to resolve any complaints of customers in this regard.

On the condition of disclosing the name, Managing Director of a leading private bank of the country said, "If there is a ghost in the mud, the counterfeit notes will not be prevented." From where the bank collects the bundle of money, counterfeit banknotes are often inserted. Before the money bundle suppliers must be right. Through this, he indirectly indicated to the Bangladesh Bank.
