BCS receives feedback from customers thru hotline

FT ONLINE

Computer buyers have started coming up with suggestions and complaints regarding the new policies the Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS) introduced for the benefits of both the consumers and traders.

The 'Maximum Retail Price (MRP) Policy 2018' and 'Warranty Policy 2018' on computers and their accessories came into effect on July 22, but the process of their implementation is slow.

To facilitate the process, the BCS launched a hotline number 01847289095 on August 1 and asked the buyers to call to give their reactions, opinions and complaints.

During the period from August 1 to 14, some 50 customers called the hotline number to know about the policies, according to the BCS data.

Of them, 42 calls were related to the policies and ICT technology while nine persons made the calls to know whether the hotline was working properly.

Three or four persons called to know about the 'Warranty Policy 2018'.

BCS president Subrata Sarkar said they are now trying to solve the MRP-related problems in consultation with the business organisations concerned.

According to the organisations dealing in computers, there are over 10 million computers and accessories in the country. So, attaching MRP labels to all of them is a time-consuming task.
