FIVE ‘JMB men’ held in Rajshahi, C’nawabganj


Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested five suspected members of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) along with arms and ammunition from Rajshahi and Chapainawabganj districts early Friday.

 The arrestees were identified as Aminul Islam, 32, son of Jamal Uddin of Baruipara, Mosharaf Hossain Morsalin, 22, son of Makbul Hossain of Char Boalmari Adarsha village of Godagari upazila in Rajshahi, Ismail Hossain, 32, son of Golam Rabbani, Rafiqul Islam, 40, son of Rustom Ali, and Abdul Matin, 40, son of Ain Uddin of Paschim Kodalkati Madhyachar in Sadar upazila of Chapainawabganj.

Tipped off, a team of Rab-5 conducted separate drives in the two upazilas of the two districts in the early hours and arrested the five ‘members’ of JMB along with 200gm gunpowder, bomb-making substances, a foreign pistol, a magazine with four bullets and four jihadi books, said Major Ashraful Islam, deputy commanding officer of Rab-5.
