Tax on three wheelers from next fiscal: NBR

CNG-driven auto-rickshaws and other engine or battery-driven three-wheelers will be brought under the tax scheme in the upcoming budget, National Board of Revenue (NBR) said today.

"CNG three-wheeler owners must have Tax Identification Number (TIN) from next fiscal," NBR Chairman Md Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan said at a pre-budget discussion.

He was meeting automobile and transport operators and their stakeholders in Dhaka.

CNG auto-rickshaw and three-wheeler motorbike association leaders also expressed their willingness to have trade licence and TIN at the meeting.

There are around 20,000 CNG auto-rickshaws actively plying in Dhaka, Md Aslam Ali, president of Four-Stroke CNG Auto-rickshaw and Three-Wheeler Association said.

Leaders of Bangladesh Automobile Workshop Owners Association, Four Stroke CNG Autorickshaw and Three Wheelers Motorbike Owners Association of Bangladesh, Bangladesh Sarak Pariban Malik Samity and Bangladesh Motor Parts and Tyre Tube Traders Association, among others, were present.
