No quota in govt job: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said there is no need for quota system in the public service.

She came up with the announcement on Wednesday during the question-answer session in Parliament amid strong protests by jobseekers and university students across the country against the quota system.

"No quota system will exist in the country as the students don't want it”, Sheikh Hasina said.

The PM also said govt will make special provision for disadvantaged groups such as ethnic minorities, disabled people.

While speaking about the attack at Dhaka University vice chancellor’s residence, she said no student can carry on such attack on their teachers.

About the attack at Dhaka University vice chancellor’s residence on Sunday, PM said, “Those responsible for attack to be brought to justice.”

She also asked the agitating students to end their protests, clear roads and return to class.
