Singapore to name an orchid after Sheikh Hasina

Singapore decides to name an orchid after Sheikh Hasina in its famous botanical garden during the proposed visit of the Bangladesh Prime Minister on March 11.

Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali disclosed the decision of Singapore government on Tuesday.

The PM will  start a four-day official visit to Singapore on Mar 11 at the invitation of her Singaporean counterpart Lee Hsien Loong; he added.

Notably, the botanical garden in Singapore is a world heritage site.

The premier will hold bilateral meeting with her Singapore counterpart and also attend Bangladesh-Singapore Business Forum and the Bangladesh-Singapore roundtable, the foreign minister said.

She will call on the first woman president elect of the country Halimah Yacob during her visit, he told the reporters.

During the visit, six agreements/MoUs are expected to be signed after official talks, the foreign minister said.
