At least eight killed in Rangamati landslides; three missing

At least eight people were killed while three others went missing in separate incidents of landslides in Boro Pool, Shikolpara, and Hatimara areas of Naniarchar upazila early Tuesday amid heavy rains in Rangamati district.

The details about the victims could not be known immediately, said Abdul Latif, officer-in-charge of Naniarchar Police Station.

Besides, vehicular movement on Rangamati-Chittagong highway remained suspended as the road went under water in Thandachhari area.

Many low-lying regions of the district have been waterlogged due to the incessant heavy rains over the last two days.

It is highly likely that similar showers will continue for two more days, Met office said.
