The authorities concerned have taken all-out preparation to welcome Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Chittagong and make her public rally a grand success during her visit to the port city.

The premier will speak at a public rally at Patiya upazila of Chittagong on Wednesday.

She is scheduled to inaugurate around 28 development projects and lay foundation stones of 14 other schemes during her daylong visit.

The projects to be inaugurated are six-kilometre Akturerzaman Chowdhury Flyover, Chittagong Muktijuddah Sangsad Complex Bhaban, Khalurghat-Monshartek National Highway, Military Pool, Patiya-Chandanish Boiltali road, Khoderhat Bridge, Nazirhat-Maizbhander road and Sheikh Russel Sculpture, Sheikh Russel Monch and four-storey academic buildings of Bangladesh Mohila Samity School and College, Hazera Taju School and College, Banskhali Upakulio Degree College, Hyoko Banani College and Prof Kamal Uddin Chowdhury Degree College.

The project to be laid foundation stone are construction of 16-kilometre Lalkhan Bazar-Shah Amanat International Airport elevated expressway, eight- kilometre Khalurghat-Shah Amanat bridge embankment-cum-road, excavation of city cannels, reservation of both sides of Sangu River, dredging of Karnaphuli River from Sadarghat to Bakalia, eight power substations of different areas, construction of Kalarpool bridge, expansions of Kerinihat- Satkhania road, Patiya-Anwara-Banskhali road, Bartakia to Mirersari economic zone road, Houko-Narayanhat-Fatichari highway, RCC grader bridge on Srimi Khal at Patiya, expansion of Nazirhat-Kazirhat road, RCC grader bridge on Mondakini Khal, academic buildings of Patiya PTI, Sitakunda School and College and Postarpar City Corporation Mohila College, construction of dormitories of Chittagong Girls College and Agrabad Mohila College, construction of Muslim Institute Cultural Complex, Multipurpose Kitchen Market at Patiya and construction of Horticulture Centre at Patiya.

Party insiders said nearly five lakh people are expected to join the public rally at Patiya where AL chief Sheikh Hasina will address after 17 years.
