The 100-ball-a-side format cricket is all set to make its debut in Bangladesh through the ex-cricketers, who will feature in the third edition of Masters Cricket Carnival from May 2 at Cox’s Bazar.

Earlier this week, The England and Wales Cricket Board proposed a 100-ball-a-side format for a new domestic competition which will start in 2020.

In such format, a team has to bowl 15 overs in an innings as well as the final over will be consisted of 10 balls which will be bowled by a bowler.

‘We have changed the format this time around and we will be playing in a new format,’ former national team skipper and advisor of the carnival Khaled Mahmud told reporters in a press conference on Tuesday.

‘We will play a 100-ball-a-side format game. There will be regular 15 overs and the 16th over will be consisted of 10-ball. I believe that the tournament will get success as like the last two years,’ he added.

A total of five teams- Beximco Dhaka Masters, Sixers Sylhet Masters, Amber Chittagong Masters, Air Asia Rajshahi Masters and Raw Nation Khulna Masters – will take part in the tournament.
