SAFF Suzuki Cup 2018 from Tuesday


The SAFF Suzuki Cup 2018 begins tomorrow at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Bangladesh and the South Asian football fans cannot wait for the battle of footballing supremacy to begin.

All seven SAFF nations – Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka – are participating in this edition of the tournament.

The twelfth edition of the SAFF championship will kick-off on Tuesday with the match between Nepal and Pakistan whereas hosts Bangladesh will square off against Bhutan later in the day.

The final match will be played on September 15.

Ahead of the tournament, a press conference, with the coaches and captains of the participating teams, was arranged in the conference room of the BFF House in Motijheel at 3:00pm on Monday, September 3.

The press meet was attended by Pakistan head coach Jose Antonio Nogueira and skipper Saddam Hussain, the Maldives head coach Petar Segrt and skipper Akram Abdul Ghanee, Nepal head coach Bal Gopal Maharjan and skipper Biraj Maharajan, Bhutan head coach Trevor Morgan and skipper Karma Shedrup, Sri Lanka head coach M N Packeer Ali and skipper Subash Madushan and Bangladesh head coach Jamie Day and defender Nasir Uddin Chowdhury.

All the teams pledged to play their best football in the tournament and transform the tournament into true football festival.

Notably, Channel 9 and BTV will broadcast all the matches of the tournament live.

The gates of the stadium will be opened at 2:00pm on every matchday.
For the newsmen, the media box will be opened 90 minutes before the match and will stay open for 90 more minutes after the match ends.

All the shops at the stadium will remain closed during the matches. Gate 4 of the stadium will stay open for the news vehicles whereas the team buses will enter the stadium though gate 2.
