Tourism fair draws huge crowd on Friday

Huge number of visitors flocked around the booths of the international tourism fair on Friday to take advantage of big discounts for both overseas and domestic trips offered by participating travel agents. 

The three-day tourism fair, titled "Biman Bangladesh Travel & Tourism Fair (BTTF) 2018" began on Thursday at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in the capital.

Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB), the apex body of the county's tour operators, organised the fair to expedite, promote and boost the tourism sector of the country.

Taslim Amin Shovon, director, TOAB said that a good number of people visited the fair on the day and took special offers by the participating companies.

It is a golden opportunity for the visitors and travel-loving people as they cannot get such offers all year round, he said.

Biman earned Tk 4.1 million from ticket sales on Thursday whereas US-Bangla Airlines earned Tk 300,000, said Shovon.

He hoped that the tickets sale would surge more on the weekends, Friday and Saturday.

50 foreign exhibitors from 13 countries are taking part in the fair.
