Serbia shows interest to hire Bangladeshi workers

Serbian Minister for Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Dr Darija Kisic Tepavcevic has expressed her deep interest in hiring skilled and semi-skilled workers from Bangladesh through legal channels.

Bangladesh Ambassador to Serbia Md Shameem Ahsan met the minister at her office in Belgrade on September 9 and the latter informed him about the interest of Serbian companies for recruiting Bangladeshi workers, a press release of Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Saturday.

Acknowledging the historic ties between Dhaka and Belgrade and huge potentials to strengthen bilateral relations specially in the field of labour and employment, both of them discussed, among other issues, on possible signing of a memorandum of understanding/agreement in this regard.

According to the National Employment Agency of Serbia, 30 work permits have been issued recently for Bangladeshi workers.

Fourteen Bangladeshi workers already joined an energy company (BEDEM) recently and the ambassador also visited their office and interacted with the top managers and the employees.

Bangladeshi workers expressed their satisfaction about the working condition and the packages offered to them.

Shameem, Bangladesh ambassador to Serbia with residence in Rome, was in Belgrade recently to present his credentials to the Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.
