Envoy Group Chairman Kutubuddin Ahmed tests Covid-19 positive


Kutubuddin Ahmed, the founder and chairman of the Envoy Group, has been diagnosed positive with the novel coronavirus.

Confirming the matter to media, Hamimur Rahman, general manager (Human Resource) of Envoy Textiles, said, "He was admitted at Square Hospital on Saturday. His condition is better now."

Those employees, came into his contact, will be tested for the virus, Hamimur added.

Abdus Salam Murshedy, Managing Director of Envoy Group, said, "He had been suffering from fever for past few days. He also have asthma and breathing issues. He and his wife were tested for Covid-19 on Saturday afternoon."

"Later, tests showed Kutubuddin Ahmed positive and it came negative for his wife. They used to live at Baridhara residence, while their children are living in another house. Yet they will be tested for the virus too," he added.

Salam Murshedy further said, "Kutubuddin Ahmed attended office for two or three days last month. But he went out for walking in the morning for two days before he fell sick." 

Kutubuddin Ahmed is the chairman and founder of Sheltech and Envoy Group. These groups have garments, textiles and construction businesses.

Envoy Textiles has also recently won the National Export Trophy (Gold).

He is the former President of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) and secretary general of Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA). 

As a Science in Mechanical Engineering graduate from Buet, Kutubuddin Ahmed's area of expertise and entrepreneurship include not only textiles and garments manufacturing, but also real estate, construction, ceramics, aviation and other industries.
