COVID-19 pandemicBD reports 31 more deaths, 1,472 new cases
Bangladesh confirmed 31 more deaths from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours.
The country's death toll from the virus now stands at 5,555 said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
In the last 24 hours, 1,472 people tested positive for Covid-19 and the number of novel coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 3,79, 738.
Among the deceased, 19 were men and 12 were women. Moreover, 22 of them hailed from Dhaka, four from Chattogram, two from Sylhet and Mymensingh and one from Rangpur division.
All of them died in different hospitals across the country.
In the last 24 hours, 13,227 samples were tested in 109 labs across the country. With this, 20,84,222 samples have been tested in the country so far.
The latest day's infection rate was 11.13% of the total tests, though the overall rate in the country till date was 18.22%. The death rate stands at 1.46%.
In the past 24 hours, 1,531 patients were declared free of Covid-19, raising the total number of recoveries to 294,391with a 77.52% recovery rate.
The gender breakdown of Covid-19 victims shows that 4,275 of the total deceased were men, and 1,280 were women.
The country's maiden cases were reported on March 8 this year and the first death from the virus was reported on March 18.
