Weeklong complete lockdown imposed in Rajshahi
District administration has imposed a weeklong complete lockdown from 5 pm today (Friday) to June 17 to contain the present escalating trend of Covid-19 cases.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) and District Magistrate Abdul Jalil declared the restriction after holding a meeting with the high officials at Circuit House on Thursday evening.
The meeting reviewed the infection rate compared to the testing and fatality rate.
Commissioner of Rajshahi division Dr Humayun Kabir, Deputy Inspector General of Police Abdul Baten and Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Md Abu Kalam Siddque, among others, joined the meeting.
DC Abdul Jalil said all sorts of shops and market places and vehicular movement will remain closed. No vehicles from Chapainawabganj, Natore and Naogaon will be allowed to enter into Rajshahi. Besides, no vehicles will be allowed to go out from Rajshahi.
However, the restriction on plying of vehicles carrying patients and other emergency goods will not be applicable, he added.
