Covid-19 death toll crosses 13,000 markBD reports 43 more deaths, 2454 new cases


Bangladesh confirmed 43 more deaths from coronavirus or Covid-19 in the last 24 hours till 8:00am on Friday, taking the tally to 13,032.

Besides, 2,454 people have newly been infected with the virus in the same period. The total number of Covid-19 cases stood at 8,22,850.

A press release signed by additional director general of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed this information on Friday afternoon.

Of the 43 deceased, 30 were men and 13 were women. 11 were from Rajshahi division, 10 from Chittagong, eight from Dhaka, seven from Khulna, four from Rangpur, two from Barisal and one from Mymensingh.

Forty-two of them died at different hospitals in the country while one died at home.

A total of 18,535 samples were tested in 510 labs across the country.

Also, 2,286 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, with a 92.59% recovery rate.

The country's maiden cases were reported on 8 March last year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.
