204 gold bars worth Tk 25cr seized in Dhaka airport

Customs preventive team recovered 204 gold bars measuring 23.600kg from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on Thursday.

Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Customs House Mokaddis Hossain confirmed the seizure of gold bars.

According to sources, BG-122 flight of Biman Bangladesh hailed from Muscat to Dhaka via Chattogram and landed in HSIA at 11:25 am.

Tipped off, a team of customs encircled the aircraft in the runway and recovered the gold bars from cargo hole.

Estimated value of the seized gold is Tk 25 crore, said customs.
