Banks asked to freeze accounts of Taposh, family
The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has directed banks to freeze all accounts of former Dhaka South City Corporation mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh and his family members.
Confirming the matter, an official of the BFIU told the media on Monday that banks were asked to suspend transactions of accounts held by Taposh, his wife Afrin Taposh, and their son Sheikh Fazle Nashwan for a period of 30 days.
The BFIU also instructed to freeze accounts of the companies owned by them for the same period, he said.
Besides, the anti-money laundering agency also sought an update on the bank accounts.
