Govt endorses eight projects worth Tk 101b


The government on Tuesday in Dhaka endorsed eight development projects at a combined cost of Tk 101.02 billion.

Presided over by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved the project.

The PM joined the meeting through a video conferencing system from her Gonobhaban residence.

After the meeting, Planning Minister MA Mannan told journalists that some Tk 100.68 billion funds for the project would be provided from the government’s own exchequer and the remaining Tk 331.3 million would come from the implementing agencies’ own fund.

Among the eight projects, six are fresh ones and the rest two are revised schemes.

The ECNEC revised the ‘Road development with footpath and drainage system upgradation at different areas of the Dhaka North City Corporation project’, enhancing the cost by Tk 558.9 million to Tk 10.81 billion and the ‘Power distribution system upgradation, Rangpur Zone project’ increasing the cost by Tk 950 million to Tk 14.29 billion.

The ECNEC approved fresh projects are: Road and drains construction at 18 newly incorporated wards of the Dhaka North City Corporation project (Phase-1) at Tk 40.25 billion, Upgradation of oil related crop production at Tk2.78 billion, Agri mechanisation through integrated approach at Tk 30.20 billion, Capacity building of Land Survey Department for conducting digital land survey at Tk 12.12 billion, Automation of the land management at Tk 11.97 billion and Installation of solar panel at the remote Chittagong Hill Tracts areas (2nd phase) project at Tk 2.18 billion.

Ministers, secretaries concerned and members of the Planning Commission were present at the ECNEC meeting.
