Raising AwarenessNBR to arrange lottery with VAT invoices

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) will arrange maiden lottery for consumers on February 5, 2021 to create awareness about receiving VAT invoice through electronic fiscal device (EFD) under VAT online system.

In a statement on Sunday, NBR said that Electronic Fiscal Device Management Systems (EFDMS) has been introduced to ensure transparency in payment of VAT.

The NBR also asked to preserve invoices copy of EFDs and Sales Data Controllers (SDCs) of shopping payments as the invoices will be considered as coupons in the lottery.

Shoppers who will make the payments through the EFDs from January 1 to January 31, 2021 will be in the considered as recipient as median lottery incentive winners.

Earlier, the revenue board said it will reward 101 consumers every. The first prize of the lottery would be Tk 100,000 and the second and third prizes would be Tk 50,000, Tk 25,000 respectively.

The NBR has installed more than 1000 EFDs in Dhaka and Chattogram, and the electronic devices will be set up in other places gradually.

NBR Chairman Abu Hena Md. Rahmatul Muneem said, “For transparency in revenue collection, we have taken the initiative to collect VAT through EFD. We are implementing a number of modules under the VAT Online Project to ensure automated VAT calculation and collection.”
