CA urges global CEO of SCB to showcase Bangladesh

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, on Monday, asked the SCB global CEO to speak on behalf of Bangladesh, highlighting the reforms being undertaken by the interim government since August.

Professor Muhammad Yunus said Bangladesh has been a victim of a massive disinformation campaign in recent months, and he sought the SCB's help to fight this menace, said a spokesman of the CA.

"Your voice will be very helpful," Dr Yunus told the global Chief Executive Officer of the SCB, Bill Winters, who called on him at his Tejgaon in Dhaka.

Winters, who came to Dhaka to celebrate SCB's 120 years in Bangladesh, lauded Professor Yunus's leadership and the progress the Interim Government made in ensuring stability in the country.

Chief Advisor sought support from the Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) to help trace and recover tens of billions of dollars syphoned off by people close to disposed autocrat Sheikh Hasina.

The chief adviser also highlighted the measures the interim government had taken to recover the stolen billions.

"We need your help. Send some experts here," he said.

Winters assured that Standard Chartered will support Bangladesh in reaching its potential through its international network and global expertise.’
