FT ONLINE

The national carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines will refrain from charging Tk18 per kg as fee applicable to the transportation of perishable goods while flying in onions from abroad.

The Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry took the decision at a meeting on Wednesday to help the authorities keep the onion prices under control, said a press release.

Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary Mohibul Haque said Biman will refrain from charging the fee until the onions are imported by air to keep its prices under control.

The businessmen importing onions by air will get all-out support, he said.
