Govt suspends Thursday’s HSC exam

The government has suspended the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations, scheduled for Thursday, in all boards due to the worsening law and order situation in the country.

The date of the postponed examinations will be announced later, while the examinations of other subjects will take place as per the schedule announced previously.

Tapan Kumar Sarker, chairman of Dhaka Education Board and coordinator of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, told reporters on Tuesday.

Earlier in a circular, the education ministry postponed academic activities of all schools, colleges, madrasa and polytechnic institutes across the country for an indefinite period amid the deteriorating situation ensued over the quota reform movement.

The decision has been taken for the sake of overall security and safety of the students, said the handout of the Ministry of Education.

The government has taken the decision when at least five people including two students were killed during today’s anti-quota movement.
