DU suspends admission process for seven colleges
The University of Dhaka (DU) has decided to suspend the undergraduate admission process for its seven affiliated colleges temporarily.
The decision was made during a meeting on Wednesday, where university authorities discussed the issue with the principals of the seven colleges.
Professor Mostafizur Rahman, convener of DU’s online admission committee for the affiliated colleges, confirmed the suspension to the Daily Sun, saying, “For now, the admission process has been put on hold. If a final decision is reached within the next three to four days, further steps will be taken accordingly.”
The admission process for the 2024–25 academic session began on 6 January and was scheduled to continue until 12 February, with entrance exams expected in April.
Earlier on Monday, the university announced its decision to withdraw affiliation from these colleges and confirmed that no new students would be admitted under DU from the current academic year.
However, it remains unclear under which authority the colleges will now conduct admissions, creating uncertainty among prospective students.
