Special programmes on BTV on Martyred Intellectuals Day


The Bangladesh Television is set to air various special programmes commemorating the Martyred Intellectuals Day today.

A special discussion titled ‘Buddhijibi Paribarer Sadasyader Smriticharan’ will be aired at 12:45 pm. The programme highlights the killings of the intellectuals during 1971 Liberation War, the spot, the tortures, the accomplices in the gruesome killings and the irreparable loss of the victims’ family and the country.

Shomi Kaiser, daughter of martyred intellectual Shahidullah Kaiser, and martyred intellectual Dr Alim Chowdhury’s daughter Nuzhat Chowdhury will participate in this programme produced by Afroza Sultana.

Another special programme ‘Ekattarer Badhyabhumi’ will be aired at 3:10 pm. Hosted by Nusrat Jahan Ruhi and produced by Afroza Sultana, it will show the mass graves and brutal torture on Bengalis during the war. Awami League presidium member Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, Sector Commanders Forum (SCF) vice-president and former director general of Bangladesh Television M Hamid, Nasir Uddin Yousuff, cultural personality and former president of Sammilita Sangskritik Jote, will participate in this programme.

A special talk show titled ‘Alor Dishari’ will be aired at 6:45 pm. Asif Munier, son of martyred intellectual Munier Chowdhury will participate in the discussion. Zahid Reza Noor, son of martyred intellectual journalist Serajuddin Hossain, Liberation War Museum Trustee Mofidul Haque, Dhaka University’s former vice-chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique are among other participants of the talk show produced by Yasser Arafat.

The state-run TV channel will run another special discussion in memory of the martyred intellectuals at 9:25 pm, featuring Asif Munier and AAMS Arefin Siddique. The programme is produced by Nur Anwar Hossain and hosted by Abed Khan.
