Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) has organised a Jamdani fair at the National Museum in Dhaka, targeting the Eid-ul-Fitr festival.

Jamdani is a traditional fabric of the country and has been recognised as a Geographical Indication (GI) product of Bangladesh by the Department of Patents, Designs and Trademarks (DPDT) in 2016.

The Jamdani fair began on May 29 with 33 craftsmen from Rupganj of Narayanganj exhibiting their Jamdani products with various designs and patterns.

The price of Jamdani saree on display at the fair ranges from Tk 2,500 to Tk 100,000, said BSCIC Deputy Manager Nasima Akter. The price is comparatively reasonable at the fair, said Manowara Begum, a visitor.

The fair will remain open for all visitors everyday from 10:00am to 6:00pm till June 7.
