Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC) Mohammad Abul Kalam has been withdrawn apparently for allowing Rohingyas to stage a big rally on August 25 and failure to rein in controversial activities of some NGOs.

Azad was attached to the Textiles and Jute Ministry as additional secretary while Director (joint secretary) of the Department of Disaster Management Mahbub Alam Talukdar replaced him as the RRRC.

The Public Administration Ministry issued separate notifications on Monday in this regard.

Besides, in-charge of Kutupalong Refugee Camp No 4 and No 5 Shamimul Haque Pavel (deputy secretary), in-charge and assistant in-charge of Teknaf Nayapara Refugee Camp No 13, 14 and 19 Md Abdul Wahab Rashed (senior assistant secretary) and Md Jahangir Alam respectively have also been withdrawn.

Contacted, Ukhiya upazila nirbahi officer M Nikaruzzaman Chowdhury said transfer in government job is a regular matter.

Kalam, who had been serving as the RRRC since February 2017, said he has been transferred as he completed his two-year tenure.

He thanked journalists for extending cooperation to him during the period.
