BD adds 33 deaths, 3,533 new cases in daily count


Bangladesh on Wednesday registered another 33 deaths from coronavirus infection raising the death tally to 2,457. The mortality rate in the country now stands at 1.28 percent.

The country also recorded 3,533 new cases of infection testing 14,002 samples raising the number of total infections at 197,123.

Additional Director General of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Dr Nasima Sultana revealed the information at its daily health bulletin broadcast from Mohakhali at 2:30 pm.

The Health authorities also reported recovery of 1796 patients during the period, taking the total recoveries to 105,023.

Of the dead patients, 27 are men and 6 women. Moreover, 16 of them are hailed from Dhaka, seven from Chattogram, five from Khulna, three from Rangpur, and two from Rajshahi division.

27 of them have died in different hospitals and six at their respective homes.

Meanwhile, the global death toll from coronavirus has reached 581,583 as of Wednesday noon.

It has so far infected 13,473,111 people around the world, according to Worldometer - a website that provides real-time updates.

Of them, 5,023,682 are currently being treated with 59,545 remain in serious or critical condition.

So far, 7,867,846 people have recovered. 

The novel coronavirus disease was first reported in China in December last year.

As the Covid-19 began sweeping across the world, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared it a pandemic on March 11 this year.
