COVID-19 pandemicBD reports 37 more deaths, 1666 new cases


Bangladesh reported 37 more deaths from novel coronavirus and 1,666 new cases on Wednesday, after testing 14,150 samples in the last 24 hours. 

The death toll now stands at 5,044 and the number of total infections rose to to 353,844, according to the press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the dead patients, 24 were men and 13 were women. Moreover, 23 of them hailed from Dhaka, five each from Chattogram and Khulna, two from Rajshahi, and one  from Barishal division.

Thirty-five of them have died in different hospitals and two at their respective residences.

However, a total of 2,163 patients were declared free of the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours and the total number of recoveries reached 262,953. 

Some 13,977 samples were collected in the last 24 hours and 14,150 were tested in 102 labs across the country. So far 1,862,637 samples have been tested.

The virus has killed 976,021 people globally and infected 31,816,647 so far.
