Palestine-Israel ConflictBangladesh urges immediate ceasefire

Bangladesh has denounced the ongoing armed conflict between Israel and Palestine and deplores the resultant loss of innocent civilian lives and injury of victims.

Escalation of conflicts and violence benefits no party, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said in a press release on Sunday.

“We urge both Israeli and Palestinians to exercise maximum restraint and call for an immediate ceasefire to avoid further loss of innocent lives from both sides,” read the press release.

Bangladesh holds that living under the Israeli occupation and forced settlements in Palestinian territory will not bring peace in the region, said the press release.

The statement conveyed that Bangladesh endorsed a two-state solution for Palestine and Israel.

It emphasized the idea of both states coexisting independently without occupation, in accordance with UN Resolutions No. 242 and 338.

The anticipated outcome of such an arrangement was seen as potentially fostering lasting peace and stability in the region, it said.

Bangladesh also urged all parties concerned to refrain from excessive and indiscriminate use of force in the conflict.

Calling upon all parties to work towards ending the conflict, it reiterated that only dialogue and diplomacy could lead to a lasting solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict.
