Ctg Central City Hospital to shut down over irregularities
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has ordered the shutdown of all activities at the port city’s Central City Hospital by 8 July on various charges of irregularities.
Civil Surgeon Dr Md Elias Chowdhury issued a letter to the hospital authority conveying the instruction on Thursday.
Earlier, DGHS Director Dr Abu Hossain Md Moinul Ahsan sent a letter to the civil surgeon, asking for a temporary closure of the hospital.
Civil surgeon Dr Elias told the media that several irregularities were found at the hospital earlier.
The action was taken after the letter from DGHS was received, he said.
Besides, instructions have been given to refer the patients already admitted at Central City Hospital to other hospitals, the civil surgeon added.
Sources said a raid led by the civil surgeon was conducted at the hospital on 4 March.
Several irregularities including a lack of proper documents and licenses, and adequate number of qualified doctors were found at the hospital during the raid.
