Bangladeshi Arif becomes ‘best young scientist of Japan’

FT ONLINE

Bangladeshi national Dr. Arif Hossain, hailing from Gopalganj, has been selected as ‘the best young scientist of Japan’ this year.

The Japanese Society for Inherited Metabolic Diseases (JSIMD) elects the best young scientist of the country every year.

The JSIMD has elected Dr. Arif this year’s young best scientist for discovering the mechanism and treatment of Lysosomal diseases.

He became the first Bangladeshi national, who was elected for this prestige in the JSIMD’s 61-year history.

The JSIMD authorities on Thursday awarded Dr. Arif at its 61st Annual Conference, held at the Akita Castle Hotel in Japan.

He is currently working as a senior researcher at a Japanese research institute.

“I am very delighted after receiving this prestige. It is an honour both for me and Bangladesh,” he said.
