Maximum 20 persons allowed at mosques for prayers

A maximum of 20 worshippers, including Khatib, Imam, Hafez, Muazzin and Khadem, will be allowed to perform regular and Taraweeh prayers at mosques from April 14 onward.

Ministry of Religious Affairs on Monday issued a circular in this regard.

Worshippers will have to follow social distancing and health guidelines while performing weekly Jumma prayers, the circular said.

The ministry asked the local administration, law enforcing agency members, officers and staff of Islamic Foundation and members of managing committee of mosques to implement government-issued instructions to contain the deadly coronavirus.

Bangladesh on Monday reported another 83 deaths from COVID-19 in 24 hours, the highest in a single day since the infection was first detected from the virus last year in March.
