Hafiz, Tushar terminated for their wrongful acts: Quader

Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary (DPS) Hasan Zahid Tushar and her Assistant Personal Secretary-2 Gazi Hafizur Rahman have been terminated following their involvement in wrongful acts.

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said this while addressing a press conference at the party president’s political office in Dhanmondi area of Dhaka on Wednesday evening.

“Before the media report, they were fired based on intelligence of their involvement in misdeeds,” Quader, also Road Transport and Bridge Minister said.

Responding to a query, he said, “Of course, there has been some wrong in their duties.”

Criticising a comment of BNP leaders over former police chief Benazir and former army chief Aziz, the AL general secretary said, “Who created Ashraful Huda, Rakibul Huda and SP Kahinur? Who had created the ‘Hawa Bhaban’, the place of corruption? Did BNP carry out any trial against them?”

Quader said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has courage. For this, she has declared ‘zero tolerance’ against corruption. Two contractual appointments of two officials at the Prime Minister’s office have been canceled today, he said, adding they might have some negligence in performing their responsibilities.

He said no one thought in that way about Benazir and Aziz Ahmed seeing their talent, degree and intelligence. Their offences are their personal issues and they will have to face the music, Quader said.

AL organizing secretaries BM Mozammel Haque, SM Kamal Hossain and Mirza Azam, liberation war affairs secretary Mrinal Kanti Das, relief and social welfare secretary Aminul Islam, office secretary Barrister Biplob Barua, deputy publicity secretary Syed Abdul Awal Shamim and deputy office secretary Sayem Khan, among others, were present.

Hasan Zahid Tushar was recruited as deputy press secretary to the prime minister in March 2019. Following the 12th parliamentary elections, he was re-appointed as the deputy press secretary on a new contract.

Gazi Hafizur Rahman was first appointed in 2019 and hired as assistant private secretary after the last general election on a new contract.
