Govt ready to discuss quota reform after court decision: Public Admin Minister

The government is ready for further discussions on the quota system if necessary for student welfare even after the High Court reaches a decision, Public Administration Minister Farhad Hossain said on Thursday.

"Let the court resolve the issue. We are always ready to engage in dialogue if further discussions are needed later. For the welfare of the country, our students, and our children, we are prepared to do whatever is necessary," Farhad told the reporters at the Secretariat.

Advising the protesting students to present their position to the court, the minister also said that the issue of the quota system in public employment should be resolved through the court.

When asked about the possibility of forming a commission to reform the quota system as demanded by students, the minister indicated that such measures could be considered if the matter were not already before the court.
