Hasina demands immediate release of ex-ISKCON leader Chinmoy
Deposed Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina has demanded the release of former ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das and sought the assurance of religious freedom and security for the lives and property of people from all communities.
The Awami League president, who fled to India in the face of a mass uprising in August, stated in a statement on Thursday, “A top leader of the Sanatan religious community has been unjustly arrested and he must be released immediately.”
“Temples in Chattogram have been set on fire, and mosques, shrines, churches, monasteries, and the homes of the Ahmadiya community have previously been attacked, vandalized, looted, and burned. Religious freedom and the security of lives and property for people from all communities should be ensured”, Hasina said in the statement posted on Awami League’s verified Facebook page.
Condemning the murder of a lawyer at Chattogram court premises, she called upon the people of the country to unite and stand against such terrorism and extremism.
"If the unconstitutional Yunus government fails to punish these terrorists, it too will have to face punishment for violating human rights”, Hasina added.
