Woman’s bullet-hit body found on Dhaka-Mawa highway

Police recovered the bullet-hit body of an unidentified woman from the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway in Sreenagar upazila of Munshiganj district on Saturday.

Five bullet casings were found next to the body of the young woman (24) from the Dogachi service road of the expressway around 8:00 am, as per media reports.

According to local sources, the woman was seen walking on the expressway earlier in the morning with a young man. However, no information has emerged as to why she was shot dead and shooters behind her killing.

Being informed by locals, police recovered the body and sent it to Munshiganj General Hospital for autopsy.

Qayyum Uddin Chowdhury, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sreenagar Police Station, said “Initial investigations suggest that the woman was brought here and shot dead. We are working closely with the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to uncover the mystery. We are collecting CCTV footage from the surrounding area for investigation."
