Eng Riazul Islam appointed as RAJUK Chairman
The government has appointed Engr Md Riazul Islam as the chairman of the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) for a two-year term.
A notification was issued in this regard by the Ministry of Public Administration on Saturday.
Riazul Islam was appointed as per Section 4(2) of the Town Improvement Act, 1953, read the notification.
His contractual appointment is contingent on resigning from any other professional affiliations or organisations, including government, semi-government, and private.
Riazul’s two-year tenure will come into effect from the date of joining and other conditions of the appointment will be finalised through an agreement, it said.
He will replace incumbent RAJUK chairman Maj Gen (retd) Md Siddiqur Rahman Sarker.
On 26 October last year, the government appointed Riazul Islam as a member (Planning Wing) of the RAJUK for a two-year term on a contractual basis.
Besides, he serves as the president of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB).
In his immediate reaction, Riazul said, “I am committed to fulfilling the responsibility that the government has entrusted to me. I seek everyone's prayers and cooperation.”
