Govt to hold public reception for Young Tigers at Suhrawardy Udyan

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Monday said the government will hold a public reception for the under-19 national cricket team to celebrate their historic victory in the world cup finals.

Quader, also the general secretary of the ruling Awami League, disclosed the information at a press conference at his Secretariat office this morning.

The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by the prime minister today, he said.

Mentioning that the reception will be held at Suhrawardy Udyan, he said that the date will be set after the team returns.

Earlier on Sunday night, an epic captain’s knock by Akbar Ali propelled Bangladesh to their maiden World Cup title with a nervy three-wicket victory over defending champions India in the final of the under-19 cricket tournament.
