Home-quarantined man dies in Sylhet

Another person has died in the Sylhet city housing estates area on Tuesday evening. The man was advised to stay in home quarantine after his son returned home from UK on March 14.

Giyas Uddin, 65, was already under regular dialysis treatment due to his kidney complications.

The day after his UK-returnee son reached home, Giyas Uddin started to experience shortness of breath. As he was taken to the Kidney Foundation in Sylhet, the duty-doctor advised him home-quarantine after listening to his case history.

Later, the city corporation health officials also ordered him to stay in home quarantine where at 9 pm Tuesday he breathed his last.

Confirming the matter to media, Rezaul Hasan Kayes Lodi, Sylhet City Corporation ward councillor said, "Following the advice of deputy commissioner and civil surgeon, he was buried last night without causing any delay and public gathering."

However, Bangladesh confirmed the fourth death from the novel coronavirus and six new cases in the country on Tuesday.

IEDCR confirmed first death from coronavirus infection on March 18, second death on March 21 and third death on March 23. The total number of infected patients is now 39 in the country.
