Awami Jubo League gets full-fledged committee


The ruling Awami League on Saturday announced full-fledged committee of Awami Jubo League with the approval of party president Sheikh Hasina.

The committee was announced at the Awami League’s central office on Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital on Saturday afternoon.

Earlier, Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader handed over the full committee list to Jubo League chairman Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash and General Secretary Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil.

The committee got 30 new faces including the former Chhatra League leaders-activists and from the different districts.

The 201-members committee has been formed with 40 members from the CC committee, some from Nanak-Azam and old members from the previous committee. Besides, some journalists have been included in the committee.

About 73 members of the previous committee of Jubo League have been left out due to various controversial acts and being over 55 years of age.

The number of presidium members of the new committee has risen to 29 with five new members. They are - Sheikh Sohail, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Mohiuddin Hasan Chowdhury, Barrister Tawfiq and Bahadur Bepari.

The Presidium members are:

Advocate Belal, Ataur Rahman Ata, Motahar Hossain Saju, Manzur Alam Shahin, Subrata Pal, Advocate Mamunur Rashid, Abu Ahmad Fahim Pabel, Faruk Hossain Tuhin, Emran Hossain, Subash Chandra Hawlader (Former Finance Secretary), Fazlur Rahman Mejba, Sajjad Haider Liton (Former International Affairs Secretary), Asadul Haque Asad (Former Manpower and Employment Secretary), Mashiur Rahman Badshah (Former Deputy Education and Training Affairs Secretary), Professor Nabi Newaz. Several prominent leaders, including Nixon Chowdhury, have been dropped from the committee.

Joint general secretaries have been risen to seven from five, they are:

Former organising secretary Badiul Alam Badi, former assistant secretary Habibur Pawan, former member Barrister Sheikh Naeem, former BCL president Mahmud Hasan Ripon and Mahfuzur Haider Chowdhury Roton.

Besides, The remaining five posts have been left vacant.
