AJM Nasir sustains injury, Obaidul Quader narrowly escapes

CHATTOGRAM: Awami League (AL) Chattogram city unit General Secretary AJM Nasir Uddin was injured while several central leaders including General Secretary Obaidul Quader narrowly escaped wound as glass door of a convention centre fell on them after collapsing at the end of a programme in the port city on Saturday evening.

AJM Nasir was rushed to a nearby private hospital where he needed four stitches in head.

The incident took place after ending of a condolence meeting organised for late Lawmaker Moslem Uddin Ahmed at International Convention Centre in Kazir Dewri area at around 6:00 pm.

AL General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader was the chief guest at the programme.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (South) Nobel Chakma of Chattogram Metropolitan Police said the crowd got heavy when Obaidul Quader was leaving the spot after programme resulting in a chaos.

“The exit door made of glass got damaged and fell down due to the huge pressure of the crowd at that time. However, the minister narrowly escaped injury in the incident,” he said.

City unit AL Health Secretary Dr Faisal Iqbal Chowdhury said AJM Nasir got injured on the middle of his head.

AJM Nasir was out of danger although he needed four stitches, said Dr Faisal.

As it was head injury, he will be kept under observation for some time, he added.
