Mosques to reopen on condition from Thursday

The government has decided to reopen the mosques in the country on condition from Thursday after a closure for more than one month due to coronavirus outbreak.

The country's mosques will be reopened from Johor prayers on Thursday following the health guidelines, according to the Ministry of Religion press release.

However, it is also mentioned that, in the case of Jamaat prayers in the mosque, the devotees have to maintain the social distance, at least 3-feet.

The ministry has imposed 12 conditions for the devotees and mosque authorities, who will go to the mosque for prayers.

No sick, elderly and children are allowed to go to the mosque to perform the prayers. Furthermore, no devotees can use the mosque's reserved materials, according to the circular.

All the mosques' should be disinfected before every prayer and there should be one gap in between two serials.

The devotees have to do their wudu, the ritual washing of hands and feet before prayers, from their houses and ensure of wearing mask before going to the mosque.

The ministry also said in the circular, "Local Administration and law enforcement, Islamic Foundation officers and employees and related mosque management committees should ensure of abiding the guidelines."

The Minister for Religion Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah said that "Strict actions will be taken if anyone found ignoring the imposed conditions."
