Eid-ul-Fitr on Saturday as moon sighted in Bangladesh sky

Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the largest festivals of Muslims, will be celebrated in Bangladesh on Saturday (tomorrow) as the new Shawwal moon was sighted in the sky of the country on Friday.

The decision came following a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee at the office of the Islamic Foundation at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in the capital this evening.

State Minister for Religious Affairs and chairman of the 18-member National Moon Sighting Committee Md Faridul Haque Khan presided over the meeting and came up with the decision of the Eid-ul-Fitr.

This year, Muslims have observed 29-day fasting in the month of Ramadan.

After the month of Ramadan, Muslims will celebrate the Eid-ul-Fitr on the first day of Shawwal month.

The main Eid Jamaat will be held at National Eidgah at 8:30am tomorrow in the capital. If the weather remains inclement, the main Eid Jamaat will be held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 9:00 am.
