Walton to sponsor Federation Cup

Walton Group became the title sponsors of season’s curtain raiser soccer meet Federation Cup 2020, scheduled to start from December 22.

Premier Bank Ltd and IFIC Bank Ltd had been named as power sponsors and co-sponsors respectively while T-Sports as host broadcasters of the meet.

The champions of the meet will be awarded with Tk 5 lakh and runners-up Tk 3 lakh. Besides, each team will get participation money of Tk 2 lakh.

Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) inked a deal with sponsors Walton in a signing ceremony at BFF House in the capital on Tuesday.

BFF Senior Vice-President and Professional Football League Committee Chairman Abdus Salam Murshedy and Walton Group Executive Director (Games and Sports) FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn signed the deal on behalf of their respective parties.

BFF General Secretary Md Abu Nayeem Shohag, Premier Bank Ltd Deputy Managing Director Shamsuddin Chowdhury, IFIC Bank Ltd Head of International Division and Deputy Managing Director Shah Md Moinuddin were also present there.

After the signing ceremony, PFLC Chairman Murshedy told the reporters that the federation will test all the participating teams for COVID-19 before starting the meet.

“We will arrange COVID-19 tests for all teams ahead of the competition. If the meet continues for two weeks, we will go for the second tests before the semis. The government and AFC suggested us that we arrange the meet without spectators, but we have decided to allow fans on a limited scale,” said Murshedy.

PFLC Chairman Murshedy further informed that they talked with the highest authority of Muktijoddha Sangshad Krira Chakra and were expecting that one of the top tier outfits of professional football league would able to take part in the upcoming Federation Cup.
