Tabith Awal to contest for BFF presidency!

Tabith Awal, former vice-president of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), is all set to contest for presidency in the upcoming BFF election, scheduled to be held on 26 October.

The post went vacant after Kazi Salahuddin announced that he is not keen to contest for the next election.

A source close to the development confirmed it to reporters on Saturday that Tabith made up his mind to run for the BFF president post.

The rumor of his participation in the upcoming BFF election in the presidency post spread out in social media a few days ago though there was no official announcement from till now.

The source informed that he would announce it in a press conference in Dhaka today (Sunday).

It is understood that he might be elected as the next BFF president unopposed.

Tabith was elected as BFF vice-president for two terms in 2012 and 2016 as an independent candidate during the Kazi Salahuddin regime. He lost to Mohiuddin Mohi in the 2020 election.

Mohi competed from Samannoy Parishad -- an opposition panel of fourth time BFF president Kazi Md Salauddin-led Sammilita Parishad -- while Tabith as an independent candidate.
