Palak meets Hiranandani Group chief to further bolster data sector investment in Bangladesh


State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Junaid Ahmed Palak has called upon the Indian leading business groups to take advantage of the generous investment regime of Bangladesh and encouraged them to further invest in special economic zones and hi-tech parks in the country.

Palak, who made a short visit in Mumbai on his way to attend the G20 Digital Economy Working Group Ministers Meeting, to be held in Bengaluru, had a meeting on Wednesday (Aug 16) with the Managing Director of the Hiranandini Group who is going to invest in Bangladesh at the IT sector.

He is scheduled to have meetings with the Managing Director of the National Payment Corporation of India and with the Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India on Thursday (Aug 17), reads a press release of Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Mumbai on Thursday.

While meeting with MD of Hiranandini Group, State Minister Palak assured all sort of cooperation from the Bangladesh side on processing their ongoing and future investments.

The MD warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed his eagerness to further bolster IT sector investment in Bangladesh. Before that, a working visit was arranged to the Yotta Data Center of the Hiranadini Group in Panvel, Mumbai on August 16 to have real time experience about a proper data center.

Hiranandani Group’s Yotta Data Services had announced plans to invest 2000CR taka in the building a Tier IV Data Center in Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority. The Data Center will be built on two hyperscale data center buildings at Kaliakoir, featuring 4,800 racks and 28.8MW IT power capacity.

It is expected that this modern data center will service the growing demand of Bangladesh’s data storage and at the same time will cater to the demand from the private sector firms in the North-East Indian Region.

Yotta Data Services have already started piling of the facilities in Kaliakoir and looking forward to doing a groundbreaking ceremony very soon.

Apart from Data Centers, Hiranandani owned Tez Platforms, also focuses on Technology led consumer services in areas of social media, AR/VR solutions, entertainment, gaming and e-sports for platforms such as Play Stations, Xbox etc.

Product development in these segments requires a skilled human resource, and the State Minister mentioned that Bangladesh can be a very good option for them.

Later, the Hiranandani Group arranged a presentation on various issues and elements of data sector. State Minister Palak also actively interacted considering the existing rules and practice in Bangladesh. They also discussed about the Digital Data Protection Act of the both countries.

Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner in Mumbai Chiranjib Sarker, Counsellor Mahmudul Islam and Private Secretary to the State Minister Md Mushfiqur Rahman were present at the meetings.

CEO of Hirannadini Group Darshan Hiranandini, Co-founder Yotta Data Services Pvt Ltd Sunil Gupta, Head Sales & Business Development and Governance of Yotta Data Services Pvt Ltd Bhavesh Adhia and other high officials of the Hiranandini Group along with the officials of the Yotta data center accompanied MD Niranjan Hiranandini in the meeting.
