Tourism master plan formulation resumes after pandemic: Mahbub


State Minister for Aviation and Tourism M Mahbub Ali today said that the work of formulating ‘Tourism Master Plan’ will resume when the surge of COVID-19 pandemic will go down.

“We have started the work of formulating the master plan for overall development of Bangladesh tourism that was halted due to pandemic. We will start it as soon as it (spread of COVID) will go down,” he said.

He was speaking at a workshop on feasibility of the planned project of “Make tourism zone including building the Sheikh Hasina Tower at Khurushkul in Cox’s Bazar’ at Hotel Shoibal in Cox’s bazar, a press release said here.

The state minister said the tourism industry around the world was hit hard due to the pandemic and Bangladesh is not out of that.

“We are working to help the tourism industry recover from the huge lose due to the pandemic,” he added.

Mahbub urged all stakeholders including the tourists and local community to put their effort for building Cox’s Bazar as a clean modern beach town so that it would be able to attract more foreign tourists.

Tourism and aviation secretary M Mokammel Hossain, Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation chairman M Hannan Mia, Awami Legue religious affair secretary Advocate Sirajul Mostofa and president of Cox’s Bazar district AL and district council chairman Mostaq Ahmed Chowdhury were also present.
