Two new trains will run regularly on Chattogram-Cox's Bazar railway route from February 01, connecting the port city and the tourist town.

Railway sources said Probal Express and Saikat Express would run four times a day on the important rail route.

Ticket sales have already started. Ticket fares range from maximum Tk 340 to minimum Tk 185.

Md Golam Rabbani, station master of Cox's Bazar iconic railway station, has confirmed the news of the train operation.

"Two new trains will begin transporting passengers on Chattogram-Cox's Bazar route from February 01. The two trains will travel four times a day on the route," he said.

As per the rules, ticket sales have started 10 days before the operation of the trains.

Ticket sales started on Thursday, a day after the scheduled date, due to a technical glitch. Tickets are available online and at the railway station counters.

Meanwhile, tickets for train travel on February 1 and 2 have already sold out. Passengers are going to the counters every day to collect tickets. They are happy that the demand for regular train services on Chattogram-Cox's Bazar rail route has been fulfilled.

Shamsul Alam, a resident of Cox's Bazar bus terminal area, said after a long time, the operation of permanent train on this route has been convenient for all.

"If two trains run regularly, it will be beneficial for all of us. I've come to Cox's Bazar iconic railway station to buy tickets for Chattogram-bound train. I feel very happy to get the tickets in my hand."

Another passenger, Amin Rubel, said, "Earlier, tickets for Chattogram-Cox's Bazar special train were not available. Now, I hope to get train tickets."

The railway authorities said that the minimum cost to take a train from Chattogram to Cox's Bazar would be minimum Tk 185 and maximum Tk 340.

They published a full schedule of the operations of the two trains. Each train will have 743 seats and will run with 16 coaches.

Cox's Bazar Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Abu Morshed Chowdhury said that regular train services on Cox's Bazar-Chattogram route was a longstanding expectation of local people. Finally, the public expectation has been fulfilled.

"Not only tourism sector but also trade and commerce will expand through the two train services on this route."
