Failing to get positive response from service recipients, a special parcel train on Wednesday changed its route and went to Jamalpur from Chattogram.
Earlier, the authorities launched the train on the Dhaka-Chattogram route on May 1, but they stopped the service on May 4 due to booking shortages.
The parcel train left Chattogram for Sharisabari in Jamalpur around 3:00pm on Wednesday.
Ratan Kumar Chowdhury, manager at the Chattogram Railway Station, said that the train carried goods – including fish, furniture and shoes – at five of its six bogies.
The Bangladesh Railway launched three pairs of parcel trains on three routes including the Chittagong-Dhaka one from last Friday to transport farmers' produce, vegetables and daily essentials due to the closure of public transport to prevent coronavirus.
